Evernote App Reviews

Launch on startup

Defaulting to launching on startup smacks of desperation. And I actually use/like Evernote! Imagine if every app from the app store launched automatically on startup. Hello Windows, 1998.

Awesome app, but I disagree with monetization policy

I was using this app across all of my devices (2 phones, 2 desktops, 1 laptop and 1 tablet) right until they announced that the free version will support only 2 connected devices. So I swithed to Quip.

Worse than Notes

Apple, thank for Notes! I can finally uninstall that buggy Evernote.

Perfectly good app ruined by monetary gain.

I loved Evernote. Since they switched to their paid version and limited me to two devices I will never use them again. I am currently transfering all my notes elsewhere.

Sometimes it fails to save!! And Presentation mode consumes too much energy!! And

1. Sometimes, it fails to save! I hit enter, and no new line is inserted. When I tried "save", then close and reopen, the last few sentences will be lost! 2. Its beautiful, I admit. But when in presentation mode, my mac just starts humming, it takes too much resources and possibly using my hard disk A LOT!!

Use it everyday for everything!

This is my #1 application. It lives on all my gadgets and keeps track of everything I do, have done, will do. It also maintains all my records and in seconds I can find anything from my licence plate, driver licence, passport, birth certificate. I can forget about forgetting or having forgotten because Evernote remembers everything forever. Premium is worth its price in my opinion. Thank you Evernote!

Needs A LOT of work

Evernote has completely trashed its usability and notetaking charm. It’s so difficult to manage notebooks and tags. It’s also so difficult to format notes. Markdown would be amazing, or at least having helper formatting utilitiies. These haven’t changed for years. All of the changes have been directed towards presentations, chat, etc. which really don’t enhance the software at all. Please, please, please make software that focuses on taking notes well -- Leave chat and presentations to the pros.

Great for note taking, poor for drawing/handwritten notes; poor search

I subscribe to Evernote Plus Strengths: great to sync among different devices, easy to take notes and organize files. Great use w/ scannable app and direct up load. Drawbacks: not very friendly to annotating regular notes (other note apps have better capability) . TERRIBLE search function — I wish it was much easier to search and utilized a function like Apple’s ‘Preview search where each different section that contained the text could easily be changed back and forth by clicking on the left hand side. I use this many times each day and prefer it over other note taking applications. It is much more expensive than other applications, however.

Steady downward decline in capability

I started using Evernote several years ago when I went to the MAC OS. At the time, it was the greatest note taking app ever. The interface was simple and easy to use. They even gave me my own personal Evernote email address to which I could forward emails I received and the content would be automatically loaded into Evernote. Great for capturing important information easily. Then, the downward spiral started. Unless you were an Evernote Premium user, you could no longer use the Evernote email forwarding feature. So, I lost that capability. Next, they took away multiple device access (more than 2) to Evernote unless, you guessed it, you were an Evernote Premium user. So, I reluctantly upgraded to Premium. However, I have since found a comparable product that has a better user interface, allows me to organize my notes more logically into groups of folders / sub-folders, and doesn’t nickel and dime me to gain additional capability. While this other product may not have all the bells and whistles of Evernote, Evernote has overestimated the value of the capabilities they’ve added. I’m not interested in the capabilities they offer nor do I want to pay extra for them. Unless something positive changes at Evernote, and soon, I’m going to be going to a new note taking application that doesn’t “bait and switch” me on their capabilities or ask me for more and more money.

Lost a lot of Usability

Because I didn’t want to pay for an upgrade, I have lost the ability to use this app like I used to. I only used it for checklists and checklists now seem to be a paid thing so I probably won’t use the app at all anymore. It’s a shame. This used to be one of my favorite productivity apps but things change.

Awesome program!

I have just started using Evernote to inventory all of my Stampin’ Up! stamp sets and supplies! It is easy to use and makes it easy to find what I am looking for when making cards or scrapbook pages. Laura Collet

FIX ELONGATION PROBLEM

Recently Evernote has begun stretching the documents I have scanned on the Evernote for Mac version. Images now appear stretched out vertically whenever I view them, making them unreadable. This is a huge problem because I can no longer read the notes I have taken on my iPad Pro because they appear stretched out. PLEASE FIX THIS ASAP or I am switching note taking services even though I have been with Evernote for 5 years. This is the last straw. If I can’t even read my notes then this app is useless.

Lost Me

I’m a premium user but with all of the changes it seems that the program has lost it’s usefulness. I’ve recently been using One Note more and more. I will not be renewing my premium membership, it’s just not worth it.

Excellent technology, but the OS X app design is lacking compared to online and iOS

I give the iOS app and the web version 5 stars. But being a designer, I like things to work well together. When I downloaded this app, I was completely lost with the interface compared to the online version. The look and feel, the color scheme, and the UI design fall short of the other design. I am really surprised they don’t use their trademark green as an accent color. Seems like there are separate teams working on these without working together to provide a cohesive UX.

No Annotations and Randomly Deletes Files

The latest version on Sierra does not allow me to annotate at all (which is the reason I purchased the full version). It would also randomly delete imported PDF files, so now I have to keep a backup version in a desktop folder. Incredibly, incredibly frustrating. Please fix this. I used to love Evernote.

I LOVE THIS APP!

It’s my goto everyday. I love the ease of use and it has become my extended longterm memory. From little reminders, to decorating ideas to keeping up the all the details of managing 3 homes and 2 businesses. Could live without it!!! I wish one thing. I wish that EverNote would purchase Notability and ToDo Cloud and combine the best features of all of them into one fabulous product. Each product has great features when combined they would knock competitors out of the park. Still loving EverNote and still wish they had somesort of PHONE support for Premium users.

Automatically opens, often crashing

I love Evernote, but this update has a big problem: it automatically opens every time I start the computer. I have reviewed every setting that says, “Automaticaly Open When … “ and made certain they were unchecked — and still the app automatically opens. I have uninstalled, deleted all related files, and reinstalled — and still the app automatically opens. Automatically opening slows my computer down massively and sometimes cause it to crash. I have uninstalled this app, and it will remain off for the time being.

My go-to app for notes

I use Evernote for business and personal notes, and sync them with the devices I use for both (4 or more). I very rarely run into issues with notes not syncing, or syncing poorly because I edit the same document on different devices. It’s nice that the Mac and iOS Notes app syncs now, but not every device I use is made by Apple, so it’s better for me that I have a 3rd party alternative. When the app does get screwed up with syncing, fixing the overlapping edits in documents is a big pain. I don’t know of a better way they could handle this, though. The desktop version (this app) is way too bossy with auto-correct. You can backspace and fix a word it doesn’t recognize as many times as you want, but it will always “correct" it for you as soon as you finish typing it. I would say that if I go back and edit a word more than once, it should back off and maybe just underline it as a misspelled word.

Awesome App! Use it for Everything!

I bought the premium version because I run my life through this app so it’s highly worth the $50/year. It’s awesome, but you really do need to use it for everything otherwise it’ll be hard to find the excuse to buy it. Business cards, scanning documents, having all your stuff in one place is awesome. I run my own business and work for two other businesses and it keeps everything organized and awesome. HIghly recommend! Get the full version!

Seriously, fix annotations

I purchased evernote premium for the sole purpose of being able to use annotations. I highlight a lot and like to keep things consistent between my laptop and phone. The fact that this major function does not work on macOS Sierra is ridiculous. This is basic functionality. While I used to open a PDF in preview directly from the application and it would sync automatically, now, preview makes a new copy that’s edited that I have replace with the old one since the edited version is not in the cloud. Urgh. The old version of evernote used to work so well with editing and syncing all documents in the cloud… now, I’m frustrated by multiple copies of the same document and the in-app ability to annotate is completely disfunctionaly. Please fix (second review requesting this).
