Evernote is my trusted system

I am a long time user, using Evernote for quick and short notes but I find its main strength is as a digital filing cabinet.  I file everything in my life in Evernote.  If I have any paperwork I scan it and file it in Evernote.  I mostly use an external scanner, but the app can also use the camera to import documents.

There are a lot of complaints about lack of word processing/spreadsheet/calendar features.  If I need to do more extensive work, I use other apps and store the file in Evernote.

Note also that the software is free, and available on various platforms.  The data is syncd between your devices. The desktop platforms (Windows and Mac) have extended features.

They offer a premium (paid) service that offers additional features.  People also complain bitterly about that; they think these features should be free.
